Yellow Belts are one step above the six sigma black belt professionals, they embrace leadership roles, which includes the close monitoring of a team of black belt professionals, by helping to effectively streamline the operations within the team, removing loopholes and ensuring that the overall objective has been achieved.

The Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification

The ICFQ ® Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification is a symbol of professional excellence. It is the foundation level of the six sigma and caters to the needs of all those, who are new entrants in the six sigma domain. It helps in cementing the bond with quality and setting benchmarks within the organization on quality terms and defining organizational work culture.

Prerequisites to become a Yellow Belt Professional

It is interesting to know that to be an ICFQ ® Yellow Belt certified, an individual need not have any prior work experience. Yellow belt domains of knowledge are exclusively designed for those who are newly entering the six sigma domain and do not possess any advanced knowledge of the subject.


In order to achieve the professional designation of ICFQ ® Certified Yellow Belt from the International Council for Quality, candidates must sit for the ICFQ ® Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt Exam and achieve a minimum score of 70%.

Examination Pattern

The examination pattern is designed based on the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Body Of Knowledge. It helps the aspirants in knowing the extent of preparation needed and the topics to be emphasized.

Role Definition

These are the project-specific, full-or part-time resources that provide process and cross-functional knowledge, as well as help to sustain the gains. They have co-ownership of the project with the Six Sigma Experts and are responsible for the quality of the work and results.
